Now that The Lake House is out, fans believe Remedy has used it to set the scene for Control 2.

Towards the end of the DLC, players will find themselves teleported to the Oceanview Motel, Remedy’s “dimensional crossover” that allows characters to move between locations. From here, players will be taken to the Panopticon in the Oldest House, the world headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control in New York.

In The Oldest House, players will take on the role of Agent Estevez and encounter Dylan Faden, who is locked in an isolated box-like cell within the containment area of the headquarters. Dylan is the brother of Control protagonist Jesse Faden, and Agent Estevez can chat with him for a while while in the Oldest House.

Here, Dylan told FBC agents that “something is changing” outside the walls and “things are getting worse.” He then asked Estevez to tell his sister that he “tried,” before a distorted scene of New York appeared on the screen.

You can see this moment between Dylan and Agent Estevez in the video above.

That interaction has now fueled speculation that Dylan is either the sole protagonist or a secondary protagonist alongside his sister Jesse in Control 2, which takes place in that twisted version of the Big Apple. I guess we’ll have to wait and see…

Lake House marks the end of the Alan Wake 2 expansion, with Remedy now shifting his focus to other projects, which alongside Control 2 includes FBC: Firebreak.

Earlier this month, FBC: Firebreak was fully revealed, a three-player co-op multiplayer spin-off set in the same universe as Control and Alan Wake, set to release next year.
