Arrowhead community leader says getting Hellraiser 2 on Xbox will require a "showdown" between Sony and Phil Spencer

Helldiver 2 will need “Sony and Phil (Spencer) to duke it out” to get the Xbox port of the Arrow shooter game online.

The over-the-top experience launched on PC and PlayStation in February and quickly became a hit with legions of players looking to do their part for freedom by suppressing Terminids (and sometimes each other).

It’s a game about collaboration – and with the Microsoft game coming to PlayStation, it has fans wondering whether Xbox players will finally get a chance to join Helldiver 2 – even if the brand is owned by Sony.

The lack of an Xbox version was something that was highlighted again recently on the Helldivers 2 Discord, when one member posted (complete with a crying emoji): “I just want it to be beefed up in an Xbox player way. But that’s never going to happen.”

To this, Arrowhead community manager Twinbeard responded: “Who says it can’t? It’s not our business, it’s a battle between Sony and Phil, but hypothetically, if both sides think it’s a good idea from a financial/brand perspective To their advantage, it can.”

But how to decide the winner? Well, earlier this year, a community manager suggested a game of chess between the two platform holders.

But in the end, the fate of STALKER 2’s Xbox dream still rests on the shoulders of the PlayStation maker. “If Sony thinks it won’t (be good for the company), it won’t,” Twinbeard concluded.

In other news, Twinbeard also confirmed that Helldiver 2 will get a shiny new PS5 Pro Enhanced Edition label. “There will be differences between the current PS5 and Pro versions, but what they will be has yet to be confirmed,” the community leader wrote.

Haven’t you played it for yourself yet? In Eurogamer’s Helldivers 2 review, we called the game a “brilliant slapstick co-op experience” filled with “highly chaotic, highly comedic gunplay” and gave it four out of five stars.

Meanwhile, Helldivers recently debuted Astro Bot as part of the platformer’s free DLC.
