"Vampire Survivor" will release a large expansion of "Castlevania" next week

Castlevania cooperation continues! Already featured in games like Dead Cells, Dead by Daylight and V Rising, Vampire Survivor will now join Konami’s classic platform series; developer Poncle’s acclaimed minimalist survival RPG Adding to the Castlevania fun while still remaining stubbornly vampire-free, with a massive new paid expansion launching just in time for Halloween.

“The sun once again sets over Dracula’s iconic castle,” Poncle explains in a gorgeous scene set for his new DLC, “and as the moon rises, a hellish horde of dark golems, terrifying ghosts, and the terrifying Fry Mann takes the stage as the battle between good and evil rages under the moonlight, unleashing a new array of vampire-killing weapons on the beasts and leaving a trail of apocalypse in your quest to rid the world of unspeakable horrors ”

Vampire Survivor: Castlevania Anthem, as the new DLC is more specifically called, introduces over 20 new characters, over 40 new weapons (eight of which are whips, in case you were wondering), and over 30 music tracks. It’s also what Poncle calls the game’s “biggest stage yet.” Breaking it down a bit further, the expansion’s character roster includes the Belmonts (Simon, Richter, Trevor, and Sonia are all among them), as well as the Bernards, along with other “amazing allies,” starting with Shanoa To Eric Lecard.

Weapons-wise, Castlevania’s cavalcade of whips are accompanied by elemental spells inspired by elements like Portrait of Destruction and Harmony of Harmony, as well as magical weapons including Alucard’s sword, spear, and shield. There are also new projectiles – referencing the throwing of javelins and iron balls – as well as a selection of symbols, with Confodere, Vol Confodere and Melio Confodere all named in today’s announcement.

The music, meanwhile, includes “dozens” of original tracks from the Castlevania series, as well as a “staggering number” of remixes. If you’re wondering about the map, it of course takes players to Dracula’s castle, where they’ll encounter “sinister secrets and a host of evil bosses” – but best of all, no vampires.

So how much will these Castlevania-flavored fare cost when Vampire Survivor’s latest expansion launches on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch? steamand the mobile version on October 31? Well, it’s a bit of a bargain, weighing in at just £2.99 / €3.99 / $3.99.
